Act of Atonement

About the art: This piece is such a special one to me. Whilst compiling it, I was reminded of my own interaction with Christ for the first time - having been writhing in what could only be described as a hellish reality, I encountered Christ at the depths of my despair. From there, I felt Him lift me up firmly and out of the hellscape that was my life at the time. The bloody crucifixion wound is not only to distinguish Jesus in the piece, but serves as a reminder that Christ’s blood continues to repay our debt no matter what point of time it is that we come to serve God - it is ever flowing. I feel it strongly communicates the absolute sacrifice and abundance of love that Jesus has for us - He has taken on the sin if the world, died in excruciating pain and yet, still, He lifts us up. The tight entanglement between Jesus’ grip and our own, signifies that once you reach out for Him and call out His name, He will never let you go. This piece, to me, acknowledges a variety of issues I feel Christians may grapple with. My hope with this piece is that it reminds those that witness it, that they are safe in His hands.
